Vasectomy
Vasectomy – an effective and safe method of contraception
Vasectomy is a modern, permanent method of male contraception that involves cutting and tying the spermatic cords, which prevents sperm from entering the semen. At Optima Clinic, the procedure is performed by experienced urologists, under anesthesia, while maintaining the highest medical standards and patient comfort.
Who is a vasectomy for?
Vasectomy is a good solution for men who:
- already have children and do not plan to have more children,
- want to take responsibility for contraception in their relationship,
- are looking for a permanent, effective and in some cases reversible method of preventing pregnancy,
- for health reasons (theirs or their partner’s) want to avoid the risk of getting pregnant.

What does a vasectomy procedure look like?
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Does a vasectomy hurt?
No. The procedure is performed under local anesthesia and is virtually painless. You may only feel slight discomfort for a few days after the procedure.
How long does the procedure take?
The procedure itself usually takes about 15-30 minutes. After a short rest, you can go home.
Can I return to daily activities after a vasectomy?
We recommend avoiding strenuous exercise for about 2-3 days. Most patients return to work the next day.
Does a vasectomy work immediately?
No – a follow-up semen analysis is necessary after approximately 8–12 weeks to confirm the absence of sperm in the ejaculate. Until then, additional contraception should be used.
