Miniphlebectomy – precise removal of varicose veins without scars

Miniphlebectomy, also known as microphlebectomy, is a minimally invasive surgical procedure for the removal of superficial varicose veins. It is performed on an outpatient basis, without the need for hospitalization and with minimal recovery time.

Thanks to the use of very thin instruments and micro-incisions (usually 1–3 mm), the procedure leaves no visible scars and provides a great aesthetic effect.

Indications for miniphlebectomy

The procedure is recommended for patients with:

single, clearly visible varicose veins,
recurrent varicose veins after previous procedures,
varicose veins that do not qualify for laser closure (EVLT),
incompetence of the great saphenous and perforating veins – as part of combined treatment.

In 2002, he graduated with honors from the Faculty of Medicine at the Medical University of Wrocław. He initially worked at the surgical department of the hospital in Głogów, and later at the surgical department of the Provincial Specialist Hospital in Wrocław.

Currently, he performs varicose vein surgeries at Optima Clinic Medical Center in Wrocław and bariatric surgeries at EuroMediCare Hospital in Wrocław.

What does a miniphlebectomy procedure look like?

1. Marking and evaluation of veins

The doctor identifies incompetent veins and assesses the area that will be treated.

2. Local anesthesia

Local anesthesia of the area where the incompetent veins are located.

3. Skin incision

Making small incisions or punctures in the skin over the area affected by varicose veins.

4. Vein removal

Using special surgical instruments, the surgeon removes the incompetent vein.

5. Putting on a plaster or suture

Once the vein has been removed, a clear patch or single stitches may be placed, depending on the physician's preference.

6. Dressing

Applying a dressing or bandages to the area undergoing miniphlebectomy.

7. Return to normal activity

The patient can usually return to daily activities relatively quickly after the procedure.
